Simply Fondue is not just cheese

I like Simply Fondue in downtown Livermore—it’s more than just cheese fondue. In the restaurant, besides cheese foundue there are salads, meat entrees that are served with vegetables and ravioli, and chocolate fondue. The Lounge offers appetizers such as coconut shrimp, beef kabobs, chicken satay, and there are melting pots built into the bar and tables, so you can also have fondue in the lounge.  Last Friday my sister Nancy and I were showing our cousins from Yuba City a good time in Livermore and we dropped into the lounge at Simply Fondue for a few of our favorite items. Since we had already stopped by the Sapphire Restaurant and planned to drop into Demitiri’s, we ordered salads and the teenaged girls in tow had salads and the chocolate fondue.

Our favorite salad at Simply Fondue is the strawberry and spinach salad. This delectable salad is made of fresh baby spinach, strawberry slices, thinly sliced almonds, and tossed in a sweet cider dressing.

Cousin Harold had the Gorgonzola Field Greens salad, which Harold said tasted great and it looked good too. The Gorgonzola salad is made with field greens, grape tomatoes, cucumber, walnuts and croutons tossed in a raspberry vinaigrette dressing and topped with Gorgonzola cheese.

The girls had the fudge brownie mix fondue. The servers kick start the chocolate fondue by pouring and lighting a shot of liquor on top and the guests then roast marshmallows over the flame. The fondue is served with a plate of fresh fruits, pound cake, brownies, rice crispy squares, chocolate chip cookie dough, cinnamon sugar balls, and more. If you run out of the dipping treats, the server will continue to bring your favorites until the fondue is gone.

Did I mention the flight of martinis?! Nancy, cousin Becky, and I shared a flight of martinis. This is a sure a fun way to try six of the hundred plus martinis on Simply Fondue’s menu without becoming intoxicated.
